California Environmental Quality Act – Notice of Exemption
The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requires an environmental review to evaluate projects for potential impacts on the environment. Environmental documents are written to identify any potential adverse environmental effects of proposed actions, assess their significance, and propose measures to eliminate or mitigate significant impacts. This posting will provide public notices and documents related to the environmental review process and information regarding the filing of Notices of Exemption (NOE).

The proposed Project will remodel the existing X-ray room in order to accommodate an X-ray machine replacement located at the Department of Medical Examiner (DME) headquarters. The existing X-ray equipment has reached its end-of-life and is no longer supported by the original manufacturer. DME has been utilizing a portable X-ray machine as an interim measure, but a permanent replacement is needed in order for DME to continue to provide its services to the County. The proposed project will refurbish and remodel the existing X-ray room due to the existing configuration lacking sufficient cooling, power, and space to accommodate the proposed replacement X-ray equipment.

The proposed Project will remodel existing spaces within FDR Park’s Senior Center and Gymnasium. To support the Los Angeles County “Delete the Divide” Initiative, stakeholders requested that ISO develop an estimate (with supporting plan) to meet the State grant-funding requirements to construct a technology center within the Firestone Florence community. As envisioned, the proposed technology center will greatly increase both digital equity and accessibility for the community. This center would be a hub for technology training, educational use, and computer access in an area where many households do not have internet access or a home computer.

The TRAP unit is responsible for targeting, investigating, and prosecuting individuals involved in vehicle theft, the identification of locations used in connection with vehicle theft offenses, and associated training of participating agencies throughout LA County.

The proposed Project will remodel the existing outdoor playground area by replacing the existing playground equipment and shade structure at the Zev Yaroslavsky Family Support Center. The Center is a multi-program LA County facility that provides various support services for LA County residents in one convenient location. The Center has an outdoor playground that is partially covered by an existing shade structure. The existing shade structure does not provide adequate and consistent shade over the playground resulting in some of the playground equipment being exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods of time. The playground equipment and the rubber mats have deteriorated over time. This presents a potentially unsafe condition for children that are playing on the playground equipment during their visit to the Center.

Angelo M. lacaboni Library Restroom Refurbishment Project

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Library was awarded more than $9 million in grant funds from the California State Library for various life-safety and critical maintenance needs of Library buildings, approved by the Board on December 6, 2022. All 85 Library locations have received funding of varying amounts for security and maintenance, and 11 locations were assigned to ISO for completion. On February 15, 2023, Library formally requested ISD’s assistance in providing a budget and timeline with appropriate milestones and deliverables for each of the 11 capital improvement projects and delivering the projects by the State’s deadline of March 2026. The 11 proposed projects’ scope of work includes various refurbishment and remodeling work to address accessibility, path of travel, security, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), roofing, and miscellaneous repairs. Upon confirmation of the total project budgets for five (5) out of the eleven proposed projects, the following proposed five (5) projects were selected to move forward to receive Board consideration for approval. The subsequent six (6) proposed projects will be presented before the Board for consideration for approval at a later date once the total project budgets can be confirmed.
