Computer Operations
The Computing Services Branch manages and operates data processing facilities to provide cost effective, continuous and reliable information processing to customers through the following services:
- Systems operations and production support
- Distributed operations support
- Office Information Systems
- Microfiche, CD-ROM preparation and laser printing
- Internet access and Web services
- IT Shared Services for small-to-medium departments
From PCs to mid-range computers to mainframes, the Computing Services Branch is ready to meet County departments' operational computing needs. The Branch supports a wide variety of hardware and software, including IBM and Unisys mainframes, Hewlett-Packard and other mid-range computers and a wide variety of personal computers and workstations.
The Computing Services Branch operates one of the largest computer centers in the Western United States. Millions of transactions are processed each day from more than 40,000 personal computers linked by an extensive communications network. In addition, the Computing Services Branch is leading the way for implementation of technologies such as server consolidation, network security solutions, storage area networking and disaster recovery.
